Healthcare in Croatia
The health service in Istria, Croatia is of a good standard. As the country is now part of the EU, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is now valid in Croatia.
Most of the food selection in the markets isn’t of the mass-produced variety but locally sourced, small butchers and bakeries are easy to find. Consequently Croatians enjoy good health, with life expectancy on par with North America and other European countries.
Safety
Safety and security are really important factors that attract tourists to Croatia. According to a safety and security report, released by the UK Government, crime levels in Croatia are low and violent crimes are very rare.
Another security report released by to US Department of State, cites that, there are no specific security or safety concerns. Pickpockets and purse snatching are not as common as in other European cities.
The popular Adriatic beach cities are safe, but do experience a rise in petty crimes during the busy summer months. Residential burglaries are uncommon.
The currency
Croatia has recently become part of the European Union, 1 July 2013 to be more precise, the currency still hasn’t changed from Croatian Kuna, giving tourists, investors and visitors more spending power.
